Ram Prasad Thapaliya

Secretary (Education)

Mr. Ram Prasad Thapaliya has been working in Civil Service for over 30 years and currently holds the position of government secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MoEST). He has served as Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and the Ministry of Health and Population. He was also the Chief-secretary in Karnali Province, where he was responsible for Provincial Government Public Affairs, including education. Mr. Thapaliya had served as Joint secretary and spokesperson in the Ministry of Youth and Sports, and in the Planning & Foreign-aid coordination division of the National Reconstruction Authority (following the massive Gorkha earthquake in Nepal 2015).
He was Chief District Officer (CDO) in Sunsari, Sarlahi, Kailali, Mahottari, Udayapur, Makawanpur and Dhanusha districts of Nepal. Serving as CDO, he did coordination, maintain Law and order and supervised the developmental activities in the respective districts. He looked after the educational activities participating in the meeting with respective District Education Committee.He also served as Deputy Administrator at the Regional Administration Office in western region, Pokhara where he was responsible for inter-agency coordination, on issues such as child protection, security agencies (Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force and National Intelligence Department), local government, civil society organizations, and the private sector.
Mr. Thapaliya has represented on state capability at several international events, he has also attended national and international conferences and seminars as official representative. Beside this he had taught in Public Youth and Saraswati Multiple Campus as the part time lecturer after completing his master’s degrees in both in Business Administration.
Mr. Thapaliya holds master’s degrees in both in Business Administrationand Public Administration from Tribhuvan University in 1993 and 2006 respectively. Apart from this he acquired different trainings during his tenure.
